AAC Communication Book

“This resource is meant to serve as a communication book for minimally verbal or non-verbal communicators. There are 2 levels included with black or color-coded options. This low tech AAC book is based off current research using core words with a combination of the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) and The Center for AAC and Autism. The color code used in this resource is derived from the Modified Fitzgerald Key. You can also customize this resource by using power point. Modify, add, or change the words or graphics to personalize this for your students and clients. This resource will allow your students to build core vocabulary and in turn, increase communication!

-Basic “I want ___.” page with 9 icons.

Level 2 AAC book:
-24 icons per page

-Includes Core Words, Let’s Chat, Feelings, People, Places, Food, Calendar, Verbs, and My Interests.

Color-coded border option using the Modified Fitzgerald Key:
Blue: Adjectives
Green: Verbs
Yellow: Pronouns
Orange: Nouns
White: Conjunctions
Pink: Prepositions, social words
Purple: Questions
Brown: Adverbs
Red: Important function words, negation, emergency words
Grey: Determiners
