“I am always trying to incorporate curriculum related materials into my speech classroom. It is so important that the skills they learn with you are carried over in multiple settings. Typically, every grade level does a solar system unit in the spring at my school. Take a look and please leave feedback if you decide to purchase – I’d love to know what you think! 🙂
What’s Included?
Pages 3-8: Planet Posters- Print and laminate these posters to hang in your classroom. You will use these often as references for the rest of the activities included.
Pages 9-10: “I have, Who has?” Game- This will let your children take turns, interact, identify planet names, and independently work to find their match. Perfect game for small groups.
Page 11: Superlatives- Target common words used within this packet with visuals and a field of three.
Pages 12-13: Sequencing Cards- Use these cards with your students to help sequence the order of the planets. Pair this with an easy craftivity like the one I have included below.
Pages 14-21: Interactive Adapted Book- These are ALWAYS a hit with my students. It allows busy hands to become active and participate even if they aren’t doing it verbally!
Directions: Cut pages 14-19 in half. Cut out the interactive pieces on page 20 out. DO NOT cut apart page 21. This is the BASE of your book. Use velcro on your interactive pieces and on the base. Bind all pages with two rings on the left hand side and you’re finished!
Pages 22-27: Solar System Book- This is a multi-purpose book. You can target many language goals with this so get creative! Students can follow directions on how to make the book, color the B&W images, and fill in the blank while answering WH questions, searching for context clues in the planet posters, etc.
Pages 28-37: Context Clues & Vocabulary Worksheets- Use these print and go worksheets to target vocabulary building skills! The students search for clues and match the vocabulary word to the correct definition.
Pages 38-47: Solar System Graphic Organizers- Use these to learn more about each planet.
Page 48- Compare & Contrast Template- Print multiple copies for small groups to compare and contrast planets in our solar system.
