Cinco De Mayo: Language Activities

$4.00

“May will be here before we know it! That is why I created some fun activities for Cinco De Mayo!!

Fiesta Bingo- Pages 3-5; Cut pages 3 & 4 in half. Distribute each student a bingo board. Four boards included. Call out the bingo cards from a deck. First one to make a bingo wins! You can also use descriptors instead of the name, i.e. “This is a girl, blonde hair, with two instruments.” Your students would then have to identify based on attributes you give them.

Pronouns- Pages 6-8; Targeted pronouns: He, She, & They. Use the flashcards as a drill activity and use the game board to independently express the correct pronoun.

Action Verbs- Pages 9-12; Targeted pronouns: waving, playing, shaking, eating, petting, holding, standing, and smiling. Use the ‘Act It Out’ game board to have your student act out the verb they land on. Use the past, present, and future verb tense table to sort the correct tense of the words on page 12.

Basic Concepts- Pages 13-15; Targeted concepts: beside, over, under, above, below, in front, behind, in between, on, off, across, and next to. Use these to teach your students basic concept skills. Try receptively ID the concept, i.e. “find the girl in between the maracas.” and expressively ID the concept, “where is the boy?”” ((under the pepper)).

Sorting Big/Little- Pages 16-20; Use the big/little table to have your students sort big and little pictures. Ask. “Find the BIG cactus,” “Where is the little boy eating?” etc…

Interactive Book- Pages 21-26; Assemble the book by cutting pages 21-24 in half. Cut out the visuals on pages 25; these will be your interactive pieces. DO NOT cut page 26; this will be the base of your book. Use velcro on all pieces. Bind with 2 rings on the left side of the page. Read each page with your students, focus on the underlined words as they are pronouns, and verbs that are targeted in the above sections. Target Cinco De Mayo vocabulary, concepts, verbs, pronouns, and much, much more!
